Garden Clean Up Day – Saturday October 15 2016
What an incredible fall season to enjoy the garden bounty that just doesn’t quite in this weather! There are still many rewards for all that hard work you put in through the sry spring and summer. Now is the time for borsch, cabbage rolls, potato and kale soup and of course, the gorgeous soup recipe from Nicholas & Morgan using collard greens
from the communal plot.
Here are details of our final work bee of the season:
Saturday, October 15
at the garden, of course
Bring a water bottle, work gloves, garden snips & a snack if you want one. If enough people bring a snack we can end with a break & visit. Working side by side, we can also do some dreaming about next year.
You don’t even need to be a garden member to come help out. If you have enjoyed the garden and park this summer, you are more than welcome to join us for a few hours of gardening and community.
We will be working to put the garden to bed for the winter by cleaning out the garden plots, chopping plant material into the compost, tidying & cleaning the shed and building one more raised bed.
We have some compost ready for spreading on the plots.
Chopping up left over plant material before putting it into the composter will help everything to break down more quickly.
See you all at the garden!
