It’s no secret that bees are important to gardeners. According to beesmatter.ca, “One out of every three bites of food that we eat is made possible by pollinators like honey bees.” Many plants depend on pollination by outside forces including bees and birds.
Unfortunately bees have been fighting for their lives. Entire hives are dying out. One of the reasons for their problems lie in the use of popular neonicotinoid insecticides. Fortunately Ontario is taking measures to reduce and restrict the use of these pesticides. For more information, check out this article by The Globe and Mail.
