We’ve been writing grants and fundraising since October 2013 to build a rainwater collection structure at the Guelph Street Garden. And we are finally ready to go!
In addition to the permits, building plans and coordination, we finally got everything set for June 16th. A project coordinator and carpenter from Menno S. Martin Contractor supervised the excavation of the pier holes, pouring of the concrete for the pier foundation and setting the brackets on which we will build the whole project. So grateful for the professional help at this stage to set a solid foundation.
A HUGE thank you to HOGG Ready Mix (Lancaster Street, Kitchener), for donating the concrete for this project! Community building at its finest – literally and figuratively!
Gardeners and neighbours came out during the day to help with the heavy work of the concrete – truly, many hands make light work.
Stay tuned for more photos of this exciting beginning phase!
